okykarl, I pronounce it, ok why karl?, as in, why do I see things others don't?
Welcome to okykarl.com where I share a bit of my art with the world wide web and YOU.
Just a little FYI - some fun facts
4.0 in all of my art classes-yay me-graduated in May with an Associates (4.0) in Visual Arts to add to my BS in Math (don't ask about the GPA)
Though I can stretch my own canvasses they are usually cheaper to buy.
I work in many different mediums (oil acrylic pastel charcoal conte chalk makeup and a variety of other mediums mixing and creating my own) i.e. making body paint to give a very rich smooth and easy to remove finish which does not crack or fade over several hours/days if needed.
My first public exhibition was an embarrassment. About a year later I can finally talk about it. The question was, who to blame and the question now is, what did I learn:
1 Not everyone is going to like your art, don't get discouraged, they just won't. Some people will like some of it but no one, including the artist will like it all.
2 Know the venue and ask a lot of good questions. Who will hang the art? How will it be hung? Can they review the potential pieces before a decision is made? (be especially aware of any possibly "offensive" work) What about pricing? Insurance for the work? Seek good counsel but don't think that counsel, even good, is responsible for a successful showing.
3 Don't confuse getting A's in all your classes with meaning you are a great or even good artist. A's mean your are good at or even great at getting A's...nothing more.
4 If you can learn from an experience be glad and retain what you've learned. Don't be bitter at life or those, in life, who allow you to learn.
5 Hold your head up and be especially thankful for those who have supported you (but don't expect them to like all your work either).
